Fox Sparrow
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with June minimum
temperature (hex. min.) of -3 to 2 C. Less likely in hexagons with
warmer June minimum temperature (hex. min. 3 to 5 C) which have
varied topography, especially if they do not contain mixed conifer
forest (Northeast Oregon). In the warmer part of its Oregon range
(June minimum temperature [hex. min.] of 6-11 C), it is associated
with hexagons having more than 1% true fir - mountain hemlock
montane forest or, less probably, May precipitation (hex. min.) of 21-
33 mm. The logistic regression analysis showed positive or negative
association with lodgepole pine forest, true fir - mountain hemlock
montane forest, elevation (hex. avg.), topographic variation, June
minimum temperature (hex. min.), and-to a lesser degree-the extent
of public land.
